Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida is partnering with Over the Edge USA to present the 2017 Over the Edge rappelling fundraising event at 8 a.m. on Feb. 25, 2017 at Naples Grand Beach Resort in Naples. The fundraising event allows for participants to raise pledges ($1,000 minimum) in exchange for the thrilling experience of rappelling over the edge (170 ft.) of the Naples Grande Beach Resort. Funds raised will support Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida’s mission to bring economic education programs to Southwest Florida students. Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida executive board members Christina Harris Schwinn and Kimberly Pitts will serve as committee chairs for the event.
“Our upcoming Over the Edge event provides a thrilling opportunity for our community to support a great cause,” said Angela Fisher, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida. “Edgers will test their adventurous spirits, all while supporting our organization in bringing educational programs to students throughout Southwest Florida.”
In 2015, Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida (JASWFL) netted more than $65,000 during the Over the Edge rappelling event at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. Sixty-seven edgers took part in the two-day event, including Sen. Garrett Richter, former Naples Mayor John F. Sorey III, retired North Naples Fire Chief Orly Stolts and Lt. Paul Cummins of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to seeking participants to rappel, or “edgers,” Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida is currently seeking sponsors and volunteers. Those interested in participating as an edger, sponsor or volunteer are encouraged to visit Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida’s website at www.jaswfl.org/over-the-edge.
